Yay its my Birthday!

I love Birthdays we all get very excited for them and have a countdown cake withe windows to open like an advent calender from 30 days before!! All of us have to know what we want to do for our birthday well in advance and I think I thought of mine at the beginning of the year!!
We haven't been to Alton Towers with the children yet and it was a tradition that me and Lee had before they were born that we go every year. Of course that lapsed as we had children and they were too young to go but this year well WOOHOO!

We had a fab day on the log flume, tractor and car rides, watching the pirates show and getting soaked on the ships.
Charlie and the choc factory ride and the ice age experience were really fun and I think our youngest was catered for quite well so I think we can reinstate the family tradition. I might just choose it every birthday!

Cornwall 2012

We have returned from the most fab holiday in Cornwall with our lovely friends and what a time it has been.

Our Taj Mahal tent dusted off and mountains of stuff packed into our trailer and car under kids and everywhere we set off on the Saturday morning listening to Harry Potter audio read by Stephen Fry all the way (brilliant we never had a murmur and it definitely made an easier more pleasant journey)

It took us about 6 hours with breaks. Soon we arrived at the Hedra camp site and got pitched up as our friends arrived to pitch next to us. Clare is my fab home ed friend who I met at a meet in a play centre about 3 years ago and her lovely kids and mine got on straight away.

The camp had a little train going round in the morning which the kids ran to get on then enjoyed madly waving at us with a blue hippo in the back!

Well Cornwall is known for its stunning beaches and we weren't disappointed.

This is Perran Porth where you can drive onto the beach to park and its quite nicely sheltered. We had a couple of visits to this one the surf was gentle so we could get the dingy out.

Our favourite was Porth beach.

It had everything, dramatic rocks, good surf,

a river with little rock pools to play in,

a pub on the beach with loos!

And even an amazing rock to climb in the middle with a hidden swimming pool !

I have to say the water was freeezing! I'm sure if the sun stayed on it all day it might be a little warmer but still it is the Atlantic!

We did have some rainy days as is typical of our fair isle however it was no problem with our big tent and friends to invite in to play or tent swap. We had  some pyjama days and had lots of fun. On some days there was a big car boot down the road so we would go bargain hunting and we had some rainy walks through the town!

Newquay is nice seaside town with town beach which we visited one day it was sheltered from the wind and in the harbour we saw a sea swimming after the fishing boats! We always had a good book to read and I even crocheted a hat that Clare showed me how to do.

One of the funniest things to do was watch each other struggling to get into wet suits each time we wanted to go body boarding!

At Crantock beach we got some dune surfing and Lee got to fly his stunt kite or rather at times the kite got to fly Lee!

We had a fab time in Cornwall made all the more special by camping with our friends x
